STATE SENATOR GEORGE BORRELLO RECEIVES NEW YORK CONSERVATIVE PARTY AWARD

TAPPAN, NY (May 28, 2021) – State Senator George Borrello (R,C,I,LIBT-57th), a business owner and former Chautauqua County Executive, was honored by the Conservative Party of New York State for his stellar legislative record in support of conservative values.

Borrello received the “Legislative Scorecard Award” at the Conservative Party’s Spring Reception for his conservative voting record on legislation in 2020.

“It is an honor to be recognized by the Conservative Party of New York State for my commitment to conservative values and principles. Our state is being challenged like never before by the impact of the radical policies that have been enacted over the past two years,” said Senator Borrello.

“At every opportunity, I speak out against these policies and underscore the corrosive effect they are having on our economy, our families and the social fabric of our communities. Those convictions guide my voting record and my legislative initiatives. My constituents will never need to question where I stand on these issues.”

Since taking office in 2019, Borrello has fought back against Governor Cuomo and his New York City allies. From the very start of the pandemic, he spoke out against the Governor’s overly harsh COVID restrictions that hurt small businesses and resulted in massive job losses, eventually helping to author a regionally-based plan for the state’s re-opening that became a template for the state strategy. This initiative was complemented by a package of small business relief bills aimed at mitigating the impact of the economic shutdown and helping businesses recover.

He has also taken aim at the state’s pro-criminal policies, leading a task force in early 2020 to repeal the state’s widely criticized bail changes and co-sponsoring bills that would roll back the statute and restore judicial discretion. Advocacy on behalf of the state’s farmers, veterans, rural communities and in support of the sanctity of life have also been a hallmark of his tenure.

Senator Borrello said, “Now, more than ever, we need strong conservative voices in our State Legislature. I am proud to count myself among those champions and appreciate the support of all the dedicated members of New York’s Conservative Party who share these convictions. Together, we are reminding New Yorkers that the best way to take our state forward is through common sense conservative principles.”
